That's an unusual question! I can actually answer that though because I just bought some today. Boneless, skinless, breast meat typically runs about 4-5 dollars a pound. Ridiculous, but quick and easy way to buy it. That's the all natural Tyson variety. Others are cheaper where I live, but they often have additives I don't like. If you have the time and ambition, you can just buy whole or chicken parts and cut and trim yourself. One can actually lower the fat content significantly that way. Breast meat has slightly higher protien content/quality from what I've read, but probably insignificant for your needs...it's all good. Beef can generally be cheaper, depending on the cut. Nice thing is, cheaper cuts can often have less fat on them. Tuna is a good bet and very convienient. Don't overlook cottage cheese (lowfat/1% or skim) for it's a good source of absorbable calcium as well as a great sorce of protein in terms of amino acid profiles. Cheapest meat at this time of year? Depends on your location....here it has antlers and white tail. groaboa628

I pay $13.99 for a 6 pound bag or frozen skinless chicken breasts at Costco. I have also seen these "bulk" bags a frozen skinless chicken breast in most supermarkets. The frozen bags are a lot cheaper than the fresh chicken breasts. The easiest way to cook them is to buy a food steamer (Black & Decker, etc.), plus the steamer gets rid of the fat.
