When one was younger, the hot topic is don't eat too much fat! Now it is don't eat too much carbohydrates! Could someone explain why too much carbs are bad? I have been losing weight since february. Went from 108 to 95 kilograms. I still have some fat to get off my body. Oh, and if I am doing a total body workout, how many reps and sets should I do? And how many days a week. Currently I am exercising 3 days a week (mon, wed, fri), doing some dumb-bell exercises and then afterwards I go for a ride on my bicycle.

You will get many opinions on the carb issue, I've seen so many articles that contradict each other. Most articles/opinions do gravitate towards limiting your carb's to 30 to 50% of your total caloric intake from carb's(there are several diet plans, ex. Atkins, that advocate 10% or less from carb's, but this is if you want to lose weight). If you want to gain weight, increase your calories and do take in 30 to 50% from carb's. This will provide you with the energy to work out in order to gain muscle mass and not fat. Too high levels of carb's (> 60% total vcaloric intake) increase your insulin secretion which in turn causes body fat storage.

About carbs: Basically stay away from simple carbs. They are empty calories. ex. soda pop.

Carbs turn into fat if they are not burned off by some form of exercise or carb blocker. That's why men develop beer bellies...there is no fat in beer just pure carbohydrates.

Carbs are converted to sugar by the body, and then what doesn't get burned gets converted to fat.....methinks

yup eating lots of carbs raises your blood sugar which triggers an insulin release to carry the sugar (energy) to your muscles and when it isnt used its stored as fat.

see above post on when to eat carbs (what to eat after a workout) might help somewhat if you want to take in juices or simple carbs daily

ITs not exactly that simple.. eat carbs get fat??? no Eat too many carbs along with fat and protein and get fat. It all has to do with your hormone insulin. Pretty much if u are not tryin to lose fat very quickly and for a short period u should eat carbs 30- 50% is an accurate number but it matters also when u eat ythe carbs and what kinds at different times matters.
