Hey guys:
I'm 55 and developing a bit of a stomach. Could any of you gym enthusist recommend a program to reduce the gut? I'm also real skinny and tall and this is so ugly. The mind's well being is very important. If you look fit then you PE attempts will not be in vain to my mind. Steve

The way to reduce extra fat is simply eat less and move around more.
First, eat less. I would suggest you read the label of all the food you eat and write down calories, protein, carbs and fat for each day and limit calories to 1500-1800. I know this is really annoying but its the best way. If you dont want to do that you should cut out junk food and chocolate bars and try to eat less carbohydrates. Most of your calories should come from protein.
When you eat is very important too, try to eat 4-5 smaller meals instead of 3 big ones.
Also drink a minimum of 2 litres of water a day.
Then exercise. Something like running, swimming, or rowing that gets your heart pumping will burn the most calories. Try 4 times a week for 45 mins, but go easy at first untill you get used to it. Exercise with weights is great for weight loss because when you lose weight you burn muscle as well as fat (this is why most people who have been on a diet end up soft and flabby), and less muscle means slower metabolism. This is bad and will stop your progress. Weight lifting will help you to maintain your muscle and you may even add some.
If you do this "program" expect to lose 2-3ibs of fat per week. Anything more than that will be muscle and water loss.
Im sorry if this is a little brief but I am in a rush. Please ask if you want more information and good luck.
