View Full Version : Glutamine Supplementation
I am posting this here, because it is sort of a dual pe/weightlifting question. L-Glutamine has a fair amount (although questionable) of empirical evidence and a ton of anecdotal evidence that it speeds muscle recovery. The reasoning is that something like 60% of muscle tissue is made up of Glutamine, therefore, extra glutamine is necessary for muscle growth. My question is first if anyone in here has had any experience good or bad with glutamine supplementation, and second if penile tissue is similar to muscle in containing alot of glutamine? If so, do you think post PE glutamine supplementation would aid in recovery and tissue growth? I already plan on trying it out
since I have just begun taking it for weightlifting purposes, but I was curious about what those who are more knowledgeable about human anatomy and biochemistry would think. I will keep you posted of my results, and I appreciate any input.

Me and people I know have basically found that you need to take quite a bit of glutamine a day for it to do anything.
I can't remember exactly the dosage, but I am positive it was over 10 grams a day. Which means it gets pretty expensive.
As far as pe related, I don't see it doing anything. But dont let that stop you, tell us if it does do anything.
Glutamine is one of the most common amino acids found in your body. Most info on it that I have seen seem to indicate it is beneficial in sparing muscle breakdown which can happen after a workout- this is when it is commonly taken by bodybuilders- during recovery. Then again, the penis mostly spongy tissue, collagen and blood vessels, not a muscle...
Like Nilla says, give it a try and let us know. Glutamine is fairly cheap. If you end up with a killer schlong, I'll beat a path to order some.

I've taken glutamine before, up to 5-8 grams a day for about 3 months. It worked for me in the fact that my strength increased faster than usual. It didn't have the size increasing effect of creatine, though.
i take iograms aday i honestly cant say if it has helped muscle building but i used to get loads of colds maybe because when i was younger i got glandular fever now i just dont get them so the stop start training scenario has stopped glutamine fuels the immune system i had tried all sorts of natural supps for colds and flu nothing worked so it cant be a placebo effect good luck
if you take protein, check the container. Look at the amino acid profiles, if it has 4-5 grams of glutamine in it, you have nothing to worry about. Studies have shown that as little as 5 grams of gluatmine a day can increase performance and recovery.

well guys - like arginine you have to take in way more to see the benefits (20 to 25 grams a day on an empty stomach - powdered form mixed in warm water) Ok, sounds like a pain in the ass, but it does work. May cause a creatine like bloat for a while and will give you the shits if you do not bulid up the amounts over time. Other than that, no benes to PE to be seen or heard of

Most of the supplement companies are jumping on the glutamine bandwagon. The MRP 'Meso-tech' contains 10g of the stuff so a few of thoses a day can get you 30g of glutamine. My opinion is that it does work from a bodybuilding perspective although I cant see it having an effect of PE. Stranger things have happened though...
