You can NOT spot reduce fat, so don't believe all those info-mertials on tv that say "buy out product and work for 10min a day and get a 6 pak (and a body of a pro body buider)
What works to get a 6pak is proper diet and arobic exercise. expending more calories than you take in. There is no easy solution, a low fat - high fiber diet. + 30-60min of some kind of arobic exercise a day (walking running biking ect) as you get lean you can add any kind of ab work to your day 10min of crunches, hanging leg raises, leg lifts, ect (they all work) once the layer of fat is gone the muscles will show.

Seriously, Sean is 100% correct.
Exercises like situps and crunches will help build up your abs, but it will not show through unless your bodyfat % is lower.
