Post appears in General Discussion but I thought it would also be appropriate here......
Interesting subject..I don't think however; guys check their testosterone level which I think they should. The normal level of testosterone in the bloodstream is between 350 and 1,000 nanograms per deciliter (ng/dl). While many associate high levels of testosterone as attributers to all sort of amazing superman-like qualities, there is such a thing as too much testosterone. While the supplement industry tout the greatness of DHEA and androstenedion and their being "a precuser to testosterone", they could increase the risk of heart disease and prostate cancer. Just think...
If you are taking these supplements for muscle building and not knowing what your own testosterone levels are, you could actually being overdosing, so to speak. The supplement fools the body to think that it has the sufficient levels of testosterone and will shuts down the natual testosterone making process.
Also remember, while testosterone is primarily manufactored through the testicle, it is processed though the liver as almost everything else is.
Suggest the next time you see your urologist or doctor and they are doing blood work ups, ask them to check your testosterone levels as well. Hell for all the money those labs cost, that check would be worth it weight in gold.
Here is a good link that may shed some light on the subject.
Undoubtedly, my eyes are now open. Also would appreciate feedback. Thanks
