Hey fellas, hows it hanging? Well i got a question for all you muscle bound maniacs. I have been goin' to the gym for about a month and a half. Well i can sorta tell its working for me but there are no real gains, ya know what i mean? Let me explain. I try to do 30 min of cardio and 30 min of weights, i try to train all areas to fatigue. I sorta have a little gut and love handles that im mainly trying to get rid of so i can be "sexy" for the beach this summer. Well i dont want to try like suplements kuz they might freak up my system, im 17, so i was talkin to my friend and he sested that i eat a peanut butter and bananna sandwich before i go work out. So know................what do u guys think? Yes, no, maybe? Thanks

One more thing i forgot to tell ya, as if its important. Im 6' even and i weigh 165 but the stupid love handles wont go. Just to clarify, w/ cardio i do 30 min on tread mill w/ 3.7 speed and like 10 grade height. When working out(upper) i usually use 25 lbs and gradually go to 20 as work out goes on. Ok ill shut up now.

If you want to lose the fat do your cardio work after you do your weights not the other way around.

There is a lot of fat in peanut butter and eating directly before a workout isn't a good idea.

Try to do some cardio in the mornings before your breakfast as your body will have had nothing to eat for at least 8 hours so you are forced to use stored energy (fat) instead of anything you have eaten recently.

Personally i don't see any problem with someone under 18 being on a forum like this as there is no pornography and it has an educational bent but seeing as this is an american forum, being 17 makes you a minor and i don't know if you are allowed to be on this board.

1. By some cheap whey protein from www.proteinfactory.com
2. Never workout w/o drinking at least 30g. of protein directly after workout. Unless you do cardio, in that case drink after cardio.
3. Lower sat. fat and carb intake.
4. More muscle=higher metabolism=best fat burner.
5. Follow number 4, meaning concentrate on packing on some muscle. You are a 6 foot toothpick. Pack on the mass and the fat will shed naturally.
6. Improper nutrition will shut down your metabolism leading to retention of fat even if you quit eating all together.
8. No matter what anyone says, never take those stupid prohormones.
9. 17 is too young to be on the board but rules are made to be broken. Don't leave.
10. Never quit working out. You've only been going for a little over a month. Take some pics now and take some pics in 6 months. You will see a world of diffence.

Im not a 6' stick. I have these freaking love handles that piss the living hell outta me. I appreciate the advice and cutting back on the sat. fats i can do but carbs...........i dont know. Did i tell you that i have virtually no sugar. I dont drink cokes or anything. I also stay away from sugary deserts and snacks. I do my best to do muscle stuff, i always work my upper body and lower 4 times a week plus cardio. BUT i have to come back to the love handles. They torment me!!! Its pure torement. Soooooooooooo.... I was thinking of getting Xenadrine, just to get rid of the handles. Thinking of taking that plus my normal workout. I tried to take stacker and i lost like 10 pounds but i gained it back b/c i never worked out. But i started to workout and i kept the weight off + i lost an extra 5 lbs. So can ya give me the go ahead on Xenadrine or what? Is there something that burns fat AND helps build muscle? Lika a 2 in 1 thing? Many thanks if ya can. O, and ill be like 18 in a month, so screw the gov. and their stupid laws right!!thanks

Xenadrine in good stuff. Just don't go overboard and don't use it longer than about a month. There is something that will help you burn fat and build muscle, HGH, but you are too young to use it and it is very expensive.

Nutmonkey,

First of all I can tell you that the area with the most fat will be the last to go. You're going to have to take in 1.5 to 2.0 grams of whey ultra-filtered protein shakes and meat per pound of body weight. You have to put on the muscle first to burn off the fat.

I'm 38 years old and did bb competitions for three years and I can tell you for a fact that when I had fat pockets that wouldn't leave, then my answer was to put on more muscle. I lost the fat eventually, but I had gotten so damn big muscularly that the fat that was there was dwarfed by my size.

Cut down on the carb intake. Maybe 70-100 grams of carbs p/day. Drink a ton of water everyday regardless of working out or not.

Rest the muscle group you worked for 48 hours between workouts. Your body needs time to recover from every workout. If you don't allow proper healing/recooperative downtime, then you'll never show any kinds of gains in muscle growth. Working out is about tearing down muscle tissue and giving it the proper nutrition and rest to them stronger.

As far as the peanut butter & banana sandwich, stop. It'll only hurt what you're trying to accomplish. As stated in the other post, do the cardio after you weight train. The reason for this is that you are trying to burn two types of fuel in your body. One is your glycogen stores and the other is your glucose stores. Before you can "burn fat" you have to burn thru these two stores of body energy.

After you workout and cool down, drink a protein shake or eat the proper amount of proteins w/ vegetables. Keep the salt at the normal levels.

REMEMBER THIS ABOVE EVERYTHING ELSE.................the fat stores you are trying to get rid of take time and will be the last to go. The Xenadrine will help, but it mainly helps to raise the intensity level of your work out.

I've been working out seriously since I can remember, and have been on both sides of where you are. Discipline to your regimen is the primary factor that counts the most here and not focusing on supplements, xenadrine, etc. Man I can tell ya, the two biggest monsters you'll have to fight is making sure you get to the gym ( after a long hard day of work, thats a big one ) and maintaining your diet regimen outside of the gym.( that's 80% of the effort for me LOL )

I hope this helps. Good luck and keep hammering away!!
