You grab behind the head and pull (with the skin pulled down, or do you grab the skin)? This is just something that I always to know?

I prefer to grab right behind the head so you're pulling tendons instead of skin.

For what it's worth, I found that using a wash cloth (dry, never tried wet, yet... maybe hot water... hhmmmmm) or hand towel, hell even a paper towel works great for manual stretching. I can get a much more solid pull on the ligs this way versus skin to skin.

You might want to try theraband, it's elastic and doesn't usually hurt.
