I have had it since Christmas Day 1997. I learned to live with it. There are many types of ass problems. One has to narrow the range from anti-biotic induced colitis to full blown Chrone's Disease. What are your exact symptoms? In fact I am in a nasty flare up this past two weeks.

Well my symptoms could be described as a sharp pain in the stomach, like i would have the squirts but when i go to poo, nothing happens. I have this horrible pain and during class i just sit in agony, some times i am able to walk it off, but usually i just wait till it goes away. I think eating a lot of carbs for breakfast might have somthing to do with it maybe dairy, for instance, i had horrible pains after eating a banana and a biscut, pain also is bad after eating chocolate muffin with a glass of milk, i find my pain is less if i eat: omlet with mushrooms. It seems that i only get these pains or cramps from 8 - 11:30 am. Help!

Sounds like you could have something as easy as gastritis (maybe) or a food alergy that gives you trouble. I used to always have a a pain like I had to take a shit but nothing would come out at all. Zero Relief.
Sometimes for fear of setting my self up for an attack, I wake up and take two shits right after another by like half hour to an hour. It seems like it doesn't want to come out as one movement. I never leave the house usually untill after I shat! Then I take at least 2 if not more Amodium AD Advanced caplets. With that I take 6000mg of Omega 3 fish oils to qct as an anti-ulcerative agent. I will not eat till after I finish my classes or take a lunch break. A full stomach feeling always doesn't feel good to me since I started getting sick.
Buy some LActaid or lactose intolerance and see if it helps. This product caused next to nothing in American Drug Stores/Pharmacies/Chemist's shops. See if that helps. Lactose intolerance can just happen one day even if it never bothered you before. Of Course this is not my problem. Mine is much worse than an allergy to milk.
Quite possibly you could be allergic to wheat. So beer and muffins will fuck you up big time. This somewhat goes along with you symptoms.
You could be like super nervous and that is what acts you up! This is my major contributing problem but not the underlying cause for me. Zoloft really helped with the stress that messed with my problem. I assume your classes have you on edge? tell us more about this point. I remember having a having to fart but not being able to go feelin g when I took a hard class with my girlfriend at the time. PAINFUL!

is disorder of the colon and its regulation of fluid content in stool and its propulsion of colon contents in an orderly fashion.
It is not at all the same as Inflammatory Bowel diseases such as Crohn's or Ulcerative colitis. The diagnosis of irritable bowel disorder is not made unless at least some effort is made to exclude other more serious disorders. Bottom line is you need to see a DR and probably shit in a cup a few times and maybe take xrays or endoscopy before you should assume you have irritable bowel. I don't think that you would want to convince yourself that what you have is only irritable bowel and delay a diagnosis of something more serious but treatable?

I agree with Luvdadus. You don't say that you ever had the shits, trots, or diahrea. I can hear the gurlgling that precedes my diahrea for like 2 to 5 minutes before it occurs. Sounds like water rushing through a pipe and that's when i know I have to find a toilet quick!
Maybe you are stressed by the class, the instructor, the classmates, or school in general. But unless your seeing loose or worse stools (shit), I can't really figure out exactly what you have is.
I had upper GIs with barium. I had barium x-ray or enema as it is called. Most unpleasent with gas pains that are fucking unbelievable. I even had the full colonscopy last. Diagnosis was ulcerative colitis for me.
At my worst for intestinal cramps I was prescribed phenobarbidol. That ended that problem for me. Just try and elimantae certain foods for a 2 week period and see if it clears up or lessens. But otherwise see a doctor too.

Today i had a zone bar with water for breakfast, low carbs. I had no pain at all. I think it might be allergic reaction. I also take paxil which might have somthing to do with it. I guess im in for a real treat at the doctors office. shitting in a cup doesnt sound like fun. Also sometimes i do hear the gurgle, and often do have the squirts its on and off.*gurgle*

This is but a side-effect of the Paxil you are taking? Did this occur at all before you took the paxil? Or has it occured more often after taking the paxil. Why are you taling the Paxil to begin wityh? For anxiety or something similiar I guess?

is aggravated by stress and anxiety, however organic bowel diseases are too. See a DR, shit in a cup and get it over with.

IBS is something I've suffered with for over 10 years now since I had gastroenteritis as a child.
Initially the only problems I had were that I would often go fro feeling fine to needing a crap in a few minutes. It wasn't too bad and was controllable.
Since then it has become worse and worse, often when going to school my body got into a weird routine that I would desperately need a crap at the same time every day which was fine but it was usually just a few minutes before the end of class or just before the bus got into school so I had to hold on for a few mintues and feel pretty ill.
I now know that Alcohol causes problems, I haven't given it up but I know after a night's hard boozing that I'm going to keep rpetty close to the toilet the next morning.
Unfortunately in the last 5 years it has got worse and worse, mostly it was worse when I was stressed/nervous but with time it became a problem becuase I would get stressed and bervous about feeling ill which caused a vicious circle. At University I began to have problems with classes which I felt were to enclosed, eg if I couldn't sneak out to go to the toilet I would begin to feel ill and stressed wich would make myself worse. Because of this I began restricting what I did and avoided situations where I would feel "trapped". Over the years it has got even worse, I've now reached a point where I feel uncomfortable being in any situation where I can't get to the bathroom quickly. If I'm on my own its not so bad because if worse comes to worse I can always find somewhere to go if I REALLY need to but wihen I'm with friends I get stressed that I have no "escape plan" to get to a bathroom. Because of this I now avoid walking any which is more than a few minutes away as I know I'll feel ill if I can't get to the loo. Instead I cycl;e which is fine because I can relax and not worry too much or I drive myself.
I'm having problems now looking for a job because I know that if I'm put in a situation for more than a few minutes where I can't get to a bathroom I will feel really and risk a rather nasty accident.
As you can imaging I'm having trouble trying to have a social life.
I can't stay away from home unless I know tere is more than one toilet available, if I'm at a friends house and someone goes in to teh bathroom to have a shower I immediately know I can't get to the toilet and feel ill leaving me just a few minutes to find a toilet. Its bloody awful.
My dodctor has not performed tests, from all my symptons hes pretty sure i have IBS and I wasn't to keen on sme of the test involved but its now reached a point where I HAVE to sort this out or I'm not going to lead a particularly fulfilling life (no I'm not depressed and suicidal don't worry)
so I have a nother appointment wtih the doc to get myself some tests.
wow thats a long poist from me. Thanks for listening, please ignore grammer and spelling!!!

Ulcerative colitis is a very similair boat. I tale Amodium AD Advanced and it keeps it under contol mostly. I also take 6000mg or 6 tablets of Omega 2 Fish Oils each day. really great shit, but also seems to work as an anti-ulcerative in nature too.
Zoloft worked well for me on calming me down which aggravates the shit out of my problem literally. Tried St John's Wort but it made it looser with the stools. Look into SSRIs for relief perhaps of anxiety which makes it worse.
Stay away from smoking (not in my case), liquor (not in my case), and coffee(The smell of coffee makes me want to crap, so forget about drinking it). If I get constipated one cup of coffee will get me to shit in 30 minutes or less.
Stay away from Greasy foods. Fried stuff does womnders to rile up one's ass. Don't eat anything with tiny seeds like tomatoes which can lodge in the intestines and make matters worse.
Rule out food alergies like beer first. Lactose intolerance. Though from your choice of words you seem to be European. Don't you guy's have that nice socialized medicine out there? Wish I had that here. Every poopy pain I had I wish Uncle Sam could Pick up when I visited the Doctor cause of it.
There is a drug called Cholestymine or such. It is used for IBS and other ass problems. Not only does it lower the cholesterol, but it constipated you big time. Look into this.
Oh well..... keep me posted.

I'm 47 and have had IBS my entire adult life. I wasn't diagnosed till my early 30s.
Yes, you must first see a doc to rule out the life-threatening serious stuff. Many IBSers are helped with antidepressants, anti-anxiety medication.
I haven't cured myself but I have a lot more control over my symptoms than I did when I was younger. Doctors were of no use for this. It took years of experimentation and methodical attention. Remember, this is a "syndrome", a cluster of symptoms and don't expect that what helped someone else will help you. Once you've ruled out malignancies and such, you are the best person there is to get yourself better.
For me diet makes a huge difference. I do much better when I eat a natural (no Zone bars) low-carb diet. A good book for this is Life Without Bread (you actually can eat some bread).
Even if you do not do best on low-carb, other good books to help adjust your diet to your own needs are William Wolcott's Metabolic Typing Diet (or some title like that) and Rudolf Wiley's Biobalance.
Something that everyone should try, for any kind of problem is EFT. Maybe it'll even make your dick bigger: http://www.emofree.com/
I just got worse and worse for more than 10 years. I tried to ignore it. Then for years I tried to get better and nothing was helping. Eventually I did find things that provide some help. It was a long, hard struggle, but you're worth it. Good luck.
