Is it better to hang a large weight for short periods or a light weight for long periods or will it even out over time?

It's best to hang light at first. You can work up to occasional heavy hanging after a few weeks. Heavy hanging will yield more results, but it's more uncomfortable and dangerous.

I started out with hanging in 2001, at first I used different sockets, started with 12mm (1/2 inches) and continued until I reached 19mm. Remember walking into town, suddenly I felt severe pain, I became scared and interrupted the whole project. I wouldn't recomend hanging at all, it's risky and painful, it could severly damage your penis. If you really crave weights, then use no more than 100 gramms or so. Personally I stick to the jelq, it's safe and gives you instant progress without any pain.

If you're interested in weight hanging, I suggest doing a search for posts by "BIB"- one of our veteran members an moderators. He is very well known for his sage advice on all matters related to weight hanging for PE. He's even created his own weight hanging device (seen HERE).
