View Full Version : pumping
What's the verdict on pumping? Is it useful? Has anyone had permanent gains with pumps? Is there a safe way to go about it?

I just threw my pump out, I only used off and on for about 5 months I don't think I got anything out of it and hearing all the horror stories I just tossed it. I really can't say if they work at all.

Given my nom-de-plume, I thought I should add that I have really only used pumping as an adjunct to stretching, uliing, jelquing and/or hanging. Once you're tired from those, why not pump it up as big as it will get?? Actually, mine never did get the horrible donut look much excepting at the very beginning, and now nearly not at all. Just red, swollen looking and that goes away in an hour or two, certainly by next day.
Consensus from other long term pumpers that I can recall from the board is that it may give some very small permanent gains over a long time of constant use, but that you're better off doing the other things that I have listed above.

thanks for the feedback. I was considering either a pump or a powerjelq device. if the powerjelq's as efficient as I've heard it is, I can shorten my workouts then I can do them more often.

I agree with Pumpin on this a little bit. I haven't pumped for long but from the short time I've done in I've got some opinions:
1.It's a decent way to stretch
2.makes your member bigger, if only for a short time it helps with motivation
3.It doesn't seem like pumping alone would cause good gains, maybe a little. It seems more as an xtra or add on exercise. Like right now my routine I just started consists of 1/2 hour of stretching and jelqing in the morning. And the 1/2 to an hour of pumping at night while I surf the net.
4.If you were worried about getting that bloated look or doughnut look, don't pump for a long time at high pressure. I never pump for longer then 10 min without a break, and I rarely ever go over 7psi. Actually the only time I go over that is when I pump up hard and then let the pressure back down almost immediately after pumping.
So think of it as a little something extra to do.
I have built my own pump, and had used it for about a month on/off. I have not taken any pre measurements yet (but I plan to.) I used a 1.5" inner dia PVC pipe. I know some people will say you need to watch your cock, but I don't have a problem not watching it. I bought the pump from autozone for $25. It has a gauge and a nice grip for pumping. I have not seen bery much about min/max pressure, so I just went with what felt like it was doing something. With the pipe being so close in dia to my penis, it doesnt cause too much pain from swelling. My last workout I began trying was to pump up to around 20 lbs of pressure, hold it there for a minute or two, then release. Initially, this high pressure would pull blood dots into the head, and long exposure to this pressure would cause the dougnut to form. But this high on/off pumping session didnt cause so much of the doughnut, and the dots have pretty much stopped appearing.
The first pump I used had a large 3" dia cylinder, and would only cause the veins on my penis to swell painfully large during a short pump session. I didnt use that pump for very long at all. Then I came up with this idea to have a cylinder closely matching the dia of my penis.
Another thing I have been trying, is ensuring I am erect when pumping, and flexing my PC muscle when I am pumped. I can feel the pressure increase on my penis when I do this.
If anyone knows any sites about the results of high pressure pumping, please let me know. I have yet to find anything that discusses in detail what pressure to use, and what pressure to avoid.
